Our Story
Rythmia Life Advancement Center was founded in 2016 by Gerard (Gerry) Powell and is the largest all-inclusive, medically licensed luxury resort and wellness retreat in the world offering plant medicine and metaphysical teachings. Over 98% of guests who participate in the Rythmia Way Program report experiencing a life-changing miracle.

In 2004, Gerry was the personification of the American businessman: rich, powerful, and unhappy. He had recently sold his company for $89 million and all the material luxuries in the world couldn’t fill the despair and layers of addiction that controlled his life. His life spiraled from grief into suicidal longing until a friend introuced him to a shortcut to truth in plant medicine. It was this life-altering experience with plant medicine that catalyzed his healing journey and inspired the creation of Rythmia Life Advancement Center.
Although plant medicine transformed Gerry’s life, he realized that journeying into the jungle unprepared, without medical support or guidance for processing his experience, was far from ideal. To change lives on a wider scale through the power of plant medicine, Gerry envisioned that a safe, accessible, and comprehensive approach, equipped with the conveniences of modern amenities, would be essential for reaching and helping the broader population.

Our Chief Healer and Teacher ensures understanding and respect for Indigenous practices and knowledge and trains and mentors our team of healers following the Rythmia Way. Our Chief Spiritual Officer holds the essential role of protecting and caring for the wellness of our team.
